Mountaineering
Lecture Series (all winter) & Ouray Ice Festival January
2009 Mountaineering is an integral part of the mining legacy of the
southwest. During winter months, a lecture series with such topics as
Miners as Mountaineers, Avalanche History along the Million Dollar Highway,
and Famous Mountaineers of the San Juans takes place in conjunction
with the Ouray Ice Festival where world class athletes demonstrate their
climbing prowess as they compete against one another.
